My name is Michele Vorpagel. Recently divorced, I am a 49-year-old single mother, in desperate need of surgery. Back in 2020, I caught a virus that affected my heart and I developed cardiomyopathy. Now, six years later my heart function is at 34% and I need a pacemaker-like device installed. The route they need to take to install this is through my stomach called the Medtronic micra. This is where the complications begin. It’s been discovered that I have diastasis recti, a condition where the stomach muscles separate and allows my organs to move about, causing stomach issues. The Doctors will not implant the heart device until the diastasis recti is first repaired, but it’s been difficult to find a doctor willing to do the surgery because my heart is low functioning. I live in Tennessee and have State health insurance. None of the doctors in my State and network want to take on the risk of doing my surgery. I have found specialists at the Mayo Clinic in Florida that will do the surgeries, but unfortunately, they are out of network for my insurance plan. My current estimated out of cost for the Mayo Clinic is $11,900. In addition, I have recently been diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer. But again, I can’t have any surgery because of my weak heart. My entire well-being relies solely on getting this heart procedure. Thankfully, I can work and on the bad days my employer allows me to work from home. My children are Rebecca 13 and Elizabeth 11. Won’t you please help me raise funds to meet my out-of-network costs? My children have been through so much with the divorce, losing our home and relocating to new schools. I don’t want them to lose any more. Please, any donation, any size would be greatly appreciated along with your prayers for my health, my doctors, donators, and my children. God bless you, with love and gratefulness……. Michele.
