Magpie Preschool House is a Portland, Oregon preschool rooted in anti-bias education, inclusion, whimsy, and play.
ABOUT US:
Magpie Preschool House provides a playful, inquiry-based approach to early childhood education. With a curriculum that honors diversity and actively works to challenge bias, graduates know the value of a diverse community and feel confident in their unique identities, strength in their ability to affect change, and ready to share their values with the greater Portland community (and beyond).
MPH is welcoming and affirming of all. Through a unique cooperative model, Magpie Preschool House gives all families a chance to contribute to our school’s mission. This is how we keep tuition low, and we actively work to enroll diverse families and family structures. We want our school to be a true home away from home. Family members are always welcome to spend time in our classroom, and teachers are committed to building strong relationships and partnerships with each family.
We want to be able to support families that may financially be unable to attend. Diverse perspectives enhance our collective understanding, and our parent work program ensures that our program both serves and benefits from as many different families as possible.
FINANCES:
To make this preschool a reality, $4,500 will be utilized to:
- Renovate. Lay durable wood laminate flooring, install a second bathroom in the home for students, and spruce up outdoor play area to create the perfect classroom space.
- invest in locally made, sturdy, preschool furniture, and
- purchase a variety of quality, open-ended materials that invite curiosity and provoke wonder.
I really never dreamed that this school could be a possibility. To thank the families that invest $500 or more, a monthly 5% tuition credit will be applied to your invoice throughout the school year (September 2020 - June 2021) AND your $250 enrollment fee will be waived.
