Help Fund Lucy's Hind Leg Amputation
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Trista and I'm reaching out to hopefully get some support to help with my dog's hind leg amputation surgery.

My dear Lucy Bear has been with me since she was 12 weeks old. We've been with each other through the best and worst of times. She has quite the medical history including cruciate ligament repair, eye removal, emergent teeth removal, and MANY allergies that require her to be on a kangaroo diet and cytopoint injections. She now needs her hind leg amputated due to a large sarcoma tumor that is starting to affect her walking. This tumor has been removed once already in 2017 and has grown back. After discussing options with a surgeon today, amputation is our best choice.

Medvet, who is very familiar with Lucy, has quoted me $2,600 - $3,600 for the amputation. This will cover the cost of everything, including anesthesia, medications, and the required overnight stay. I would like to schedule her surgery within the next two weeks. I am fearful the tumor is going to grow through the skin, cause more pain, and complicate her situation more.

Lucy is my babe. She's been my constant in my life and brings me joy every day. It has been difficult to watch this tumor slowly take over her leg this past year and I've greatly struggled with this decision. She's in great health besides this tumor and I'll be forever grateful to have many more years with her, and hopefully, pain-free.

I've requested $3,600, the high end of the quote given to me by Medvet. If $3,600 is reached, and my bill does not reach that point, I intend to donate the remaining funds to The Canine Collective. The Canine Collective a no-kill shelter for dogs based in Plain City, Ohio, about 40 minutes away from me. Before Covid, I volunteered at an adoption event and intended to volunteer more but the pandemic hit. Here's their website: https://caninecollective.org/

Thank you for your time! I'll be forever grateful for your help.
Much love,
Trista and Lucy
