Dear friends, family, and fellow filmmakers,
We are seeking funding for the thesis film Long Time Since, a heartfelt holiday short that explores the ways friendships and relationships change as we come of age, and the warm nostalgia of coming home for the holidays. In Grace Prentice's directorial debut, a young woman returns to her hometown from a semester abroad to celebrate New Year's Eve with friends. There, she runs into her former long-term boyfriend for the first time since their split, forcing her to confront feelings she hoped to leave behind.
The source of inspiration for Long Time Since is the classic New Year's tune, Auld Lang Syne, and its many appearances throughout history and media. Auld Lang Syne loosely translates to "for old time's sake." The song, for many, elicits unexplainable emotion tied to nostalgia and sentimentality. Similarly, about the film, Grace says "I want to tell a story that's relatively simple but, similar to real life, if you look deeper into any given moment, it is both vividly real and overwhelmingly beautiful." The themes of shared experience, friendship, and reconciliation are the driving forces of this story.
With the visionary brilliance of award winning and CIFF selected cinematographer Anna Pizon, and the sharp logistical and creative insight of producer Malakee McGuier, principal photography for Long Time Since will take place in early January.
Long Time Since has already undergone an extremely successful audition process and test shoot, as pictured above. We plan to continue to update our patrons on the process of the film as it progresses.
The funds collected through this fundraiser will go toward location fees, as well as feeding our cast and crew and production design costs. Donating to this film means the world to us, and we will keep you updated as we progress. Any contribution, including the sharing of this fundraiser is deeply appreciated.
