Help Fund Life-Changing Prosthetic Assistance
This is my life... about 2 years ago I was in Mexico and which was supposed to be a good time and for a while it was. I hadn't been shopping , just got off the plane and simply took a cup of water and drink it out of the tap . I was fine the whole time I was down there. Except for a skin infection I got . the skin infection was treated and everything seemed fine after that. About 2 months after getting back into the states I became violently ill. All of a sudden I got these gapping wounds on both arms and in the middle of my forehead. My forehead healed along with my left arm after some time but the right arm rapidly got bigger to where my tendons were showing and I ended up with limited function. So when I went to BMC they were treating me for the wrong infection and kept doing so for well over a year and a half or longer. Instead of treating me for the right infection which was a parasite and bacteria infection. It was the worst type of torture ever not only feeling completely sick but feeling and seeing worms / things crawl around under my skin and in and out of my orifices when BMC with treating me for the wrong infection, discharging me only for me to end up back there a couple days later for the same problem. The treatments never worked and the infection spread into my blood , liver , spleen, heart, bone /muscle and tendons of my right arm and wrist. After two surgeries(at a different hospital) and two years later I went to a different hospital (Tufts) I got told "it's like we're chasing our tails" the ortho doctor said. I would never get rid of the infection unless they cut off my right arm, my dominant arm. The surgery is two parts. The first surgery is the amputation they leave the end open and let the infection come out for about 4 days then the second surgery is to seal it up. But I will have to go to a rehab far out in the middle of nowhere try to get rid of the infection in the rest of my body and bone of amputated arm, with a long-term antibiotics (6weeks or more)it's going to be a long healing process but hopefully with help from family and friends it will make things a little easier. The first surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning Sep 23rd 2024 and the other will be four or five days afterwards.
I am looking for prayer and any type of help in this troubled time and lengthy recovery MassHealth only pays for prosthetics without finger or wrist movement. I'm trying to raise enough money to get a bionic prosthetic that connects to the nerve endings left up by my elbow so I have full function fingers movement and be able to grab and hold things. It would be like a full functioning hand and arm. I will still not be out of the woods even then I still have to be battling the infection that's going throughout my body at a rehabilitation center far away from my home. Any in all funds would help pay for the prosthetics ( payment for my meds that insurance already don't pay for and travel for my family to come and support me throughout these times as well as a day-to-day items needed by me. Any help and prayer will be greatly appreciated at these difficult times.
Update: since originally making the GoFundMe account I have been admitted two times now for long-term antibiotics which is 6 weeks long at min..im in the beginning of my second time now which is supposed to help get rid of the osteomyelitis infection in my arm. that way I can start working on getting my prosthetic. I'm also waiting on my emergency housing to go through that way I can have home nurses or pcas going to help me and to be able to heal in my own space/home.
