On May 28th, 2021, a horrendous tragedy occurred resulting in the death of 18 year old Lauren "Lela" Leslie. Lauren was visiting the home of her girlfriend when tragedy struck. Lauren's girlfriend's stepfather entered the home and murdered Lauren, her girlfriend's mother, and ultimately himself. Before taking his own life, he attempted to murder Lauren's girlfriend who is currently in surgery but stable.
Lauren was a very peaceful, proud and non confrontational. She fought her entire life to become comfortable with who she truly is. Lauren expressed to her family prior to her demise that her girlfriend's stepfather was wary of their relationship resulting in the couple spending majority of their time in Bloomfield at Lauren's family residence.
Our mission with creating this fundraiser is to help the Leslie/Campbell family financially recover and to start creating a budget for Lauren's safehouse which will provide a safe 24 hour space for young adults to have access to entertainment, networking and mental health assistance especially for those who need it the most due to running from hostile environments.
ANY DONATIONS ARE EXTREMELY APPRECIATED!!
Lela's family has never experienced tragedy like this but our community has been the support that helps get us through it best can. Thank you, her family appreciates you all!
We will be selling Lela t-shirts, pins, and other Lela merchandise on 6/10 @ Goldengatesbus.com
