Top surgery for me has always seemed like this far off fantasy that I've needed to lock away deep inside myself to cope with the reality that it was out of my reach. Be it financial obstacles or oppressive legislation, I settled. And then I settled some more.

In January of this year, I was inspired by a trans friend of mine to revisit the topic and maybe even hope a little. I strengthened my resolve and decided this would be the year that I underwent top surgery. For the past couple of months now I have been hopping through bureaucratic hoops to make this dream feasible. I can now proudly say that I am at the homestretch.

My top surgery has been officially scheduled for July 8th. I am fortunate that much of the surgery costs will be covered by insurance, meaning that I only need help paying for a portion out of pocket, as well as funds to support my 6-week recovery while I am out of work.
