I’m incredibly proud to share this fundraiser in support of my dear friend, Kitty Hardy, who is currently on a self-funded tour through the Pacific Northwest promoting her beautiful and unique book, A Mythology of Mycology.

If you know Kitty, you know her deep and lifelong passion for mushrooms — not just as fascinating organisms, but as powerful teachers, healers, and companions. This book is the culmination of years of heartfelt work, research, and devotion to the fungal world. It truly is her life’s work.

Kitty would never ask for money herself, which is why I’ve created this fundraiser on her behalf. She has applied for several grants and explored every available avenue to support this endeavor, but many of those options have fallen through. That’s why I’m reaching out to the community of people who know and love Kitty — or who simply believe in the power of passionate, independent work — to help her complete this journey.

About the Project: A Mythology of Mycology

This book invites readers into the world of mushrooms through a lens that is both mythic and deeply personal. Each chapter introduces a different mushroom as if you're meeting a new friend: you'll get to know their histories, the ecosystems they thrive in, the folklore surrounding them, and their medicinal and culinary uses.

Kitty’s gift is making these mysterious life forms unforgettable. Her writing brings them alive — not just as species to be studied, but as characters with personality, story, and soul.
