Our magical and beloved friend Kaylyn was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma in December of 2020.
For months and months leading up to the diagnosis, Kaylyn was experiencing an intense and mysterious decline in her health and wellbeing. With symptoms including rashes, night sweats, swollen lymph nodes, coughing, trouble breathing and heart rate abnormalities, she seeked help from many different medical proffesionals. She underwent many tests to find the cause of these symptoms, like tests for tuberculosis, cat scratch fever, and black mold infection. Truly, cancer was the last thing on any of our minds, but after having a lymph node removed from her armpit for biopsy, it was discovered that she has Hodgkins Lymphoma.
It is possible that Kaylyn has been fighting this cancer for a long time, because she had more subtle variations of these symptoms on and off for over 2 years. Through 2020, she was declining rapidly. It seemed there was little time left to act, and too little time to persue what she believed in most; natural medicine. So, she bravely stepped forward into the care of the local Oncologist, embarking on a six month long journey of chemotherapy.
At that time, the prognosis was good. Six brutal months later, Kaylyn recieved her last treatment with high hopes. We all anxiously waited for the results of her last PAT scan to see if the chemo worked.
On August 9th, the results were in: the cancer had not gone away.
The doctor said that the next phase of treatment would be hospitalization, with a higher dose of chemo and a bone marrow transplant. All who know Kaylyn, know that she is a wild creature of the outdoors and adventure, and that life in a hospital is no life for her. Her wishes at this time are to seek alternative healing modalities. Kaylyns heart is telling her to explore ancient healing remedies, plant and spirit based healing, and begin treatment with a naturopath oncologist.
This is why we are now calling upon her community and loved ones.
