I'm Josh Colletta; former radio DJ, former sports announcer, current voiceover artist and podcaster, aspiring music stream owner, and overall professional loudmouth. I've been unemployed for a year and a half, and struggling desperately. I'm currently in the process of waiting for the government to approve disability assistance, and I have another GoFundMe page to address that situation (which you can find here).
This fundraiser is specifically to build a new all-digital studio. My current analog audio console is failing, injecting horrendous noise into anything I attempt to do with it, input or output. I'm almost entirely certain there are failing capacitors in there somewhere, but I have neither the know-how nor the time to go poking around and attempting to fix it. Besides which, I've been planning on upgrading to a digital system since before I even bought my current equipment, and that's the direction I need to move in to succeed.
So here's the plan.
Voiceovers and the Uncommon Sense Podcast:
- The podcast I'm already working on with what I've got. It's not great, but it's getting off the ground because it needs to.
- Voiceovers are going to require some new demo content that I simply cannot record with my current equipment. It's not up to spec, and I also need sound treatment to deaden the room I work in. Once that's taken care of, I will record demos and list myself on Fiverr.
Music Stream:
- This is my true passion. It will be what the radio industry categorizes as "Rhythmic CHR," which is what you likely know of as Top 40, but with a hip-hop and EDM lean -- club music, basically. It involves automated and live shows running 24/7, streaming to a global audience, with the latest hits that make you want to party.
- Additional secondary streams will be added as possible, separating the different eras of party music into similar-sounding channels that are not necessarily based on decade or year, but what fits together musically. These streams will be fully automated, but will include specialty shows and additional capabilities for listener interaction. All of that is in the future; I'm not focused on it right now, but it is in the plans.
In order to make the voiceovers, podcast, and primary stream work, everything I need to start is on this Amazon list. The mixer is the first priority.
If you can help me continue my career and provide entertainment in the ways I best know how, you would be making my ultimate dream come true. All fund will go toward what I've outlined here, and any additional funds raised will get web sites up and running, the music service and stream costs paid for, etc.
