Jonathan Horna is the kind of person who goes to church every Sunday, sings in the church choir, teaches Sunday school, gets good grades in college, gets along with everyone, loves to play soccer, likes to make people laugh and is very close with his family. He is not afraid to go out of his way to make sure everyone in the group felt included and was smiling. He has always been a happy-go-lucky person with an optimistic outlook on life.
Jonathan Horna, since the day he was born, has been nothing short from a miracle. Once again, he has proven so. On February 17,2021, two days before his 21st birthday, he was taking his friend home on his way home from playing a soccer game when someone going over 100 miles per hour crashed into the back of a tiny 1995 Toyota Corolla. Both Jonathan and his friend were completely ejected from the vehicle. The man who crashed into them ran into the wood next to the highway.
Jonathan and his friend were both in extreme critical condition when they arrived at the hospital. Jonathan had over 5 fractures, blunt force trauma to his heart and lungs, a spinal cord injury, and severe lacerations and abrasions throughout his body. The fact that he was alive was in of itself a miracle. He has had several surgeries and bedside procedures in the past month. Sadly, the doctors eventually needed to perform an above the knee amputation on his left leg.

As of right now, he is off the breathing tube but still has some issues with his lungs. His condition after the amputation has improved remarkably, and he is exceeding all of the doctors’ expectations. He is extremely positive of his current condition. Although he still has a few medical issues, he is stable enough to be soon moved out of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. As for Anis, he is recovering steadily and is out of the Intensive Care Unit.

Jonathan has already been in the hospital for over a month and will continue to stay there for a while. My parents are heartbroken and scared of losing another child. Financial problems are the last thing they should be worrying about. No parent deserves to go through such a traumatic situation, twice. The insurance of the other person can only supply so much and even then it will be divided in two because of the two boys involved in the accident. We are looking at a medical bill that will potentially reach over 1Million without the rehabilitation fees. We greatly appreciate any help that is provided. Please continue to pray for his recovery and please share this page as much as possible.
Thank you
