Hi! My name is Joanna and I am a Film, B.F.A. student at SUNY Purchase creating my freshman thesis film, "Star-Crossed."

An experimental short film following a girl's changing perception of her father through childhood memories, daydreams, and nightmares, this film is a very personal project I'm beyond thrilled to bring to life with your help.

Set in Queens suburbia, a toxic home life is nothing new to a teenage Celeste. Still listening to the same music introduced during childhood, she is constantly brought back to car rides with her parents and picnics on the beach when life was much simpler. She considers her fate as a bride-to-be, cat-lover, and daughter, as she is transported into her own music videos. Now, the same songs don't sound the same; they’ve grown to represent a much darker version of the little girl that still lives within her. Celeste must reconcile these two versions of herself before arriving at the altar and facing her greatest fear.

Cast & Crew:

I am honored to work with talented actors, non-actors, and cats in the making of this film. I am proud to work alongside my brilliant SUNY Purchase Film BFA colleagues in my women-dominated crew of eight, including a Director of Photography, Assistant Director, Gaffer, Grip, Sound Mixer, and Production Designer, amongst others.
