Help Fund Jim's Knee Surgery
Lindsay and Justine are fundraising to help cover the cost of Jim's TPLO surgery. TPLO (Tibial Pleateau Leveling Osteomtomy) surgery is performed on dogs when there is a tear in the CCL ligament of the hind leg knee, similar to a torn ACL in humans. CCL rupture is the leading cause of hind leg lameness in dogs and can cause lifelong instability in the knee joint. The CCL joint can weaken over time in large dog breeds, and especially in athletic dogs (like Jim). Sadly, the weakening of the CCL joint can cause the ligament to rupture with seemingly minimal trauma.
A few days after Jim's 3rd birthday on June 22nd, Jim was enjoying a warm summer evening and doing what he loves to do... chasing birds around the yard. Sadly, this is how Jim tore his CCL joint (basically ruptured his knee joint). At this point, Jim's knee is immobile and he is barely able to move.
Anyone who knows us knows that we would do anything for Jim and he will always be our first baby.
Many of you know that we are also expecting and due at the end of July. Jim's sudden injury has come as a total shock to us and his vet has recommended that he have surgery as soon as possible to prevent further damage to his knee and to allow him to continue living a full, happy life. The cost of Jim's TPLO surgery is $6000.
We have already been able to cover the cost of his x-rays as well as pain medication to keep him comfortable until his surgery, which is likely to be scheduled within the next week or so.
We find ourselves overwhelmed with the sudden and unexpected cost of his surgery as we also prepare for motherhood, and we just want the best for our baby Jim. Any monetary donation will help us and will be appreciated more than you know. Thank you.
