Help Fund James' Recovery From Life-Saving Surgery

My name is Tony and I'm making this fundraiser for my friend James. James has been a good friend for the past 3 years I have known him. He is someone who has dealt with a lot of hardship in his life. He has always been a kind and gentle person to me and has become someone I care deeply for. It is for this reason that I am making this page as it is nearing the time when James will eventually have to receive surgery and treatment for an illness he has, Familial adenomatous polyposis. Familial adenomatous polyposis is a rare autosomal condition that causes a buildup of tissue in the colon that will eventually turn into colon cancer if left untreated. FAP causes a whole host of other issues including making one susceptible to other types of cancer and chronic health issues. It has given James autoimmune issues, severe gastrointestinal distress, chronic pain, and fatigue, as well as caused the unfortunate passing of James' daughter from a FAP-related cancer. The average life expectancy for someone who has FAP is 34-43 and James is currently 33. My friend has done so much to build a good life for themself with their partner and their child, and I intend to make sure they sustain that life for as long as physically possible.

For this reason, I am starting an emergency fund for James for childcare for their nearly 2-year-old child whenever their partner is at work providing for the family. The tentative surgery date is around June 16th 2025 according to what James has been told by doctors. This money will be put towards childcare necessary for James’s recovery from a total colectomy surgery where they will have their colon removed to help combat against colon cancer.
