Help fund India’s leg surgery.

Hello! I’m Heather Meyers, I’m Ellie Meyers mom and India is my grand puppy. On November 4th, 2023, Ellie’s apartment complex in NE Minneapolis, had a fire. Ellie was at work and Trell was in St. Paul with his mom when the fire happened. Their unit was not harmed besides for a little smoke but the fire was on the same floor as them. Ellie came home from work to find fire trucks and emergency vehicles and was told that their cat, Ice and dog, India took off and were missing. They found Ice within an hour as he was hiding in a bush nearby after jumping out the window. India however went missing after a firefighter took her from the apartment and they couldn’t decide where to put her (the fire chief didn’t want her in his car). So while the firefighter was holding India, she bit him and the firefighter dropped her and she took off.

Ellie looked for her night and day and put out a ton of flyers and posts on social media. She was miserable and cried every day as her heart just hurt and was broken. India is her emotional support animal and meant everything to Ellie. She was there for her at night so she didn’t feel lonely while Trell worked nights. All her family lives in Rochester, an hour and a half away, so India kept her occupied and happy when family couldn’t be there.

India was missing for 10 days and was finally found today, 11/14/23!!!! Hallelujah!!! She was only blocks away from the apartment. Two young ladies found her outside by their fence crying. They took her in and noticed that she was limping but also realized that this was the dog from the flyers and from the same building as one of their friends. They instantly called Ellie and sent her a picture and they were eventually reunited!

Ellie took India to her vet and they took an X-ray and found out her leg was broken and stated that she would need emergency surgery to fix it. They told her they couldn’t do it but called around other places to see who could. The one place that stated they could do it said it would cost between $4000-$7500. Outrageous! She doesn’t have $7500 just lying around as most people probably don’t and most places require upfront payment. One of the gals she was working with at a volunteer rescue to find India stated she could try this place in SD that could be more affordable and they are open 24/7. She called them and they did quote her $2500-$3000. So she is going to be driving 4 hours away tonight to go get her fixed up.

I started this gofundme to try and help her out as she has already been through so much the last 10 days and now another set back. Ellie is grateful for her being found and alive but is now stressing due to the cost of surgery. So please, I ask if you can find it in your hearts to help my baby out. I will and they will be forever grateful.
