Help Fund Heather Conn Hendel's College Scholarship
Donation protected
My sister, Heather Conn Hendel, passed away last year after a brief battle with an aggressive cancer, 12 days after having her first child and just over a year after getting married. While it has been a very difficult year for my family and I, we find some comfort in several initiatives that have started to ensure that her generosity and kindness lives on.
One of those initiatives is a college scholarship at her former school, Information Technology High School in Queens, NY, where she taught English for 20 years, from when the school opened in 2003 until 2023. The school has established an annual college scholarship in her name, to be awarded to hard-working students that excel in their English department. The scholarship will be awarded each year at the school’s graduation ceremony.
My sister lived for helping others and loved all the students she taught at this school for so many years. Within the school and in the local community, she was always raising money, championing organizations that were important to her, and supporting others financially, emotionally, spiritually, and giving as much of her time and energy as she could. Some examples include donating blood regularly until she literally passed out and couldn’t donate anymore, visiting the sick and elderly on a regular basis to brighten their day and uplift their spirits, and going above and beyond to show her love to her family and friends, and always trying to make this world a better place in everything that she did.
Some of the students at this school are not as fortunate as others and would greatly appreciate any financial assistance they can receive. Please consider helping me honor my sister and continue her legacy of helping others, in donating for this college scholarship, which will provide financial assistance to students starting college in the Fall.
Thank you for anything that you can contribute!
Sincerely,
Danny Conn and the Conn and Hendel families
