Hi, my name is Zach Floyd, and I teach 4th grade at Global Arts Plus in St. Paul. In past school years, a teacher from the Midwest Food Connection has taught four lessons in all three of our 4th grade classrooms. This year we are adding one more 4th grade classroom. Our students love this program! Unfortunately, this year the funding source for this program has been cut, so I am creating this fundraiser to raise the necessary money to continue this program at Global Arts Plus.

The four-lesson unit that will be taught is called Locally Grown. In the four lessons, students will learn about healthy ingredients local to Minnesota, make and eat a salad, learn about and make wild rice, and get to try some local spices. The cost of the teacher, materials, and mileage for a day of lessons for four 4th grade classrooms is $490 per day. There are four days of lessons, so the total cost of the lessons is $1960. Midwest Food Connection is covering half of this cost so I am asking for $980 to cover the rest of the lessons and the cost of transaction fees. Funds raised will be sent directly to Midwest Food Connection. Thank you!
