Hi there and thanks for checking out my fundraiser! As expenses continue to build up and with a move back to California in the fall for school fast approaching, I can't put this off any longer. I need help!
As you are probably well aware by now, transitioning is an expensive endeavor. From hormone replacement therapy to medical procedures to gender affirming clothing, it is quite the financial burden. For the past year, it has been one that I have been fully willing to take on alone, however, the laundry list of things grows as my budget stays the same.
Unfortunately this stuff isn't covered under insurance, so it is just an extra thing to worry about on top of everything else - from rent to bills to debts, etc. This money will go towards not only paying off some of the debt I've already accrued through this process, but to also helping cover the cost of procedures I just haven't been able to afford.
For me, coming out as a trans woman has been an incredible gift. Nothing compares to the validation I have experienced in the freedom of finally and truly being myself. Through HRT and laser hair removal, I finally see the person I always wanted to looking back at me in the mirror. Unfortunately, because of the way things are that validation and gender euphoria has come with a hefty price and has put me quite a bit in the hole.
Another beautiful gift to come out of this past year has been to finally find myself back in school, pursuing a career path that feels so meaningful to me. I started off in 2020 getting an associates degree in Forestry and Wildland Resources. Through that program, I was accepted into a Bachelors of Science program at Humboldt State University, which I will be attending next spring. This will require me to move back to California where my expenses will grow very large.
With all of this on my plate, the looming possibility of having to choose one over the other weighs heavy. With your help, however, I won't have to choose!
So, please if you can, help make this trans girl's dreams come true!
