Help fund tuition to return and finish degree
Donation protected
Hello, before reading on about my story and campaign, I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to look at my campaign. It means a lot, whether or not you choose to donate!
I was a student at Earlham college, however, it has been a couple of years now since I was enrolled last. Unfortunately, I had to leave following my first year; I struggled to perform well due to a lot of personal issues and the passing of my dad and shortly after my uncle [who I was very close and was another parental figure for me]. Since my time away from Earlham, I have gone through much instability. Having to move out, moving between cities depending on job availability, and just a lot of periods where housing and necessities were uncertainties. I attempted to return and continue school at many points, but, I just was never able to find my footing; both financially and mentally. However, I have reached the point where I know that school is where I belong, and I have even been accepted for readmission to Earlham College this fall semester.
To be able to return and finish my degree would mean: acquiring both the education that I need to accomplish what I want to do, and to be stable in an environment where I won't have to worry and stress about basic living concerns.
In my time out of school, I still maintained the goal of going back, and through that, I have continued to educate myself and grow as a learner. Independently, I have become conversant in Hindi, have taught myself its written script, as an example.
When I first started at Earlham I was a foreign language major, but I now intend to major in Economics or Public policy. These are areas that I have truly gained an interest and passion for, and have recognized the effects and changes I could make by being in these fields.
My situation currently is that, I have federal student loans in default from my first academic year at Earlham. Which put me in the position to have to pay for this portion out of pocket as I try to get out of default on said loans and be able to get federal aid in the semesters following. The timeline for getting out of default is over 10 months of consecutive payments, which would mean another year before I can attempt to return. So if I can raise 5,000, or any portion which would ease whatever the amount I would need to save and pay, it would mean I can return this year in August.
I want to take another moment to thank you guys again for taking the time to read my story. I immensely appreciate anything you are able to give, and if you can’t donate, I still hope you can share my campaign, anything you guys can give. Thank you once again.
