My name is Joseph Thompson, a comic book writer and co-founder of Fracture Comics; a bay area based independent comic book company dedicated to bridging the gap between American comics and Japanese manga. Our titles include Hellfire, Death of Darkness, Godhand, ARK, and Sugar Rush. In order to produce our books we collaborate with an international team of artists based in the Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Turkey, and Malaysia. Each of our stories are created with the intent of bringing minorities to the forefront.  We have been active for approximately five years, have exhibited at over 20 comic events, and recently had a documentary about our journey screened at the San Diego Black Film Festival.


I am making this GoFundMe because we at Fracture Comics are interested in hosting a small comics event free to the public on Saturday September 21st 2019 at the East Bay Community Space in Oakland. The plan is to have a maximum of 20 local artists, music, and refreshments. Featured artists will be diverse with an emphasis on people of color. 


I was born and raised in The Bay Area and continue to live here to this day. I love comics and I would really appreciate the opportunity to bring a comics event to my own community. With your help I can make this dream a reality.
