Hi, my name is Rocket Streich and I'm a freshman student in the SUNY Purchase Film BFA Conservatory working on my first-year film titled "Extra Life."
I am seeking $1,500 in donations to help bring my student film to life. Your donation will fund: location rentals, transport for my all-student crew, props, post-production, feeding crew, and festival submission fees. Any gift, large or small, is greatly appreciated!
ABOUT MY FILM:
PLOT: A teenage girl's quest for social acceptance at her local arcade takes a dark turn once she meets someone, or something, new.
EXTRA LIFE is a personal and surreal narrative about the circular and repetitive nature of addiction; how the urges that come with addiction, no matter how trivial they are, can manifest and cause long-term detriment. My film takes place in a retro-style arcade, which is where Christina, the film's protagonist, discovers how her addiction takes form.
I've been infatuated with video games from a young age, especially retro arcade titles like PAC-Man & Donkey Kong. You could say I was pretty addicted. My younger self loved the interactivity that games gave me, as opposed to reading or physical activity. However, as I matured, video games stopped being the most important thing in my life. I had to focus on what was truly important: school, work, and my relationships with others.
Short bursts of fun never amount to anything but short bursts...it's the time spent being present that counts. Christina, our main character, desires of the escape that the arcade provides, but that escape morphs into something otherworldly.
I'm excited to bring my film to life... and your support can make it happen!
Thank you!
- Rocket Streich
