Fund HRT for Trans Kentuckians Left Without Coverage
Medicaid is No Longer Covering Hormones for Trans People in Kentucky!
Recent changes to Medicaid and Veteran's Affairs have left many transgender adults in Kentucky without coverage for their hormone replacement therapy (HRT). These medications are essential for their health and well-being, but many simply cannot afford the out-of-pocket costs.
This fundraiser will directly reimburse trans adults on Medicaid who have an active prescription for their hormones and can provide a receipt showing their medication purchase. We will ensure that funds are spent efficiently by encouraging recipients to use at-cost pharmacies or apply discount programs like GoodRx to keep expenses as low as possible.
Why This Matters
Hormone therapy is lifesaving and has well-documented physical and psychological benefits for trans individuals, including:
✔️ Improved mental health and reduced depression, anxiety, and suicidality
✔️ Better alignment with gender identity, increasing overall well-being
✔️ Physical changes that affirm identity and boost confidence
Without financial assistance, many trans people in Kentucky will be forced to go without their hormones, leading to devastating health consequences.

How Your Donation Will Be Used
Funds raised will go directly to reimburse eligible trans adults for their hormone therapy costs. Applicable fees from GoFundMe and taxes will be covered by this fund as well.
Recipients will be required to:
✅ Show proof of an active prescription
✅ Submit a receipt for their medication purchase
✅ Seek out the most affordable option to maximize donor funds
Understanding Medication Costs
To help donors see exactly how far their contributions will go, here’s a breakdown of monthly medication costs:
Estrogen-Based HRT (Transfeminine Individuals)
Estradiol (Estrogen pills): $0.31 per pill (twice daily) → $18.60/month
Spironolactone: $0.41 per pill (twice daily) → $24.60/month
Progesterone: $0.50 per pill (once daily) → $15.00/month
Estrogen Patches: $58 - $149/month
Estrogen Injections: $71 - $124/month
Testosterone-Based HRT (Transmasculine Individuals)
Testosterone Injections: $50 - $100/month
Testosterone Patches: $300+ per month
Testosterone Gels: $300 - $350 per month
Your donations will directly cover these costs, ensuring that trans Kentuckians can continue their HRT uninterrupted.

Transparency & Accountability
To ensure full transparency, the following measures are in place:
✔️ No profit is being made. Funds raised go to reimburse recipients for their hormone medications and cover minor taxes and fees.
✔️ Monthly financial reports will be available upon request.
✔️ Receipts and verification will be required for every reimbursement.
✔️ Funds will be used strictly for hormone therapy expenses.
To keep things simple and organized, all reimbursements will be processed from a separate, dedicated bank account, ensuring clear financial tracking.
⸻
Legal & Tax Considerations
This is NOT insurance. Under Kentucky state law, this effort is strictly a charitable reimbursement program and does not act as a form of medical insurance.
Verifying Eligibility: To prevent fraud and misuse, every reimbursement will require:
✔️ A valid prescription
✔️ A valid ID
✔️ Proof of Medicaid status
✔️ A receipt for hormone purchases
Privacy & Confidentiality: All recipients’ personal information will be kept strictly confidential to protect their privacy.
We do not dispense or issue any prescriptions.
