My name is Mika, and I am fundraising for my best friend, Elliot. We are trying to raise enough money to be able to afford the treatment process for her neurological condition.

About a year ago, Elliot was diagnosed with a progressive form of acquired brain damage (ABI) at the age of 20. This came about due to long-term mental health conditions that went untreated, as well as past struggles with substance abuse.

Because of her neurological condition, she experiences neural decline and cognitive impairments that actively interfere with her day-to-day life. This includes symptoms like severe short-term memory loss, issues with balance and coordination, and extensive fatigue. These traits, among others, make it increasingly difficult for her to work and engage in her everyday activities.

The treatment for Elliot's ABI will involve MRI and CT brain scans, which will help us understand the nuances of her condition in more detail. Further examination may even lead to brain surgery. Treatment will also help slow down the impairments Elliot faces due to her condition, and can seriously reduce the severity of long-term impacts she may face in the future.

Her current income barely covers monthly rent, and she is also in severe debt, both of which make it impossible to afford any treatment.

Without treatment, these symptoms will only get worse, and may eventually become irreparable and lead to her untimely passing. Doctors have strongly estimated that Elliot's condition has cut down her lifespan. This is devastating, especially as she is only 21 years old. She needs to be seen by more professionals, who will treat her ABI and help reduce the difficulties she faces because of it. They will also help us understand her condition and what her future living with it will look like.
