Our Mission
We’re raising £1,500 to purchase and deliver books to communities across Somalia as part of a grassroots initiative to support education, leadership development, and improved living standards.
Over the past year, our small team has been working directly with Somali institutions to build a digital and physical library of learning resources. These materials are focused on leadership, peacebuilding, and community empowerment—tools that are essential for Somalia’s long-term growth and resilience.
This project was born out of a simple but powerful idea: access to the right knowledge can transform lives.
Why Books?
In much of Somalia, access to reliable educational materials is extremely limited- Institutions often operate without updated books or learning tools, community leaders lack written guidance for managing projects and challenges, and young people eager to learn have few resources to develop their potential, not to mention the unreliable access to the internet.
By supplying carefully chosen books, focused on topics like leadership, women’s security, and climate change/stabilisation, we aim to give Somali individuals and institutions the tools they need to drive meaningful change from within.
What Your Donation Supports
Our goal of £1,500 will help us: Purchase books from publishers and distributors in the UK, and deliver materials directly to Somali partners. Furthermore, it will expand the resource library, giving us the power to bring our initiative to more people in need, in somalia and beyond.
Our Story So Far
This project began with a coast-to-coast charity cycle in July 2024, which raised the first £1,000 for the library. That initial funding helped launch the Women, Peace and Security resource archive—now in use by local institutions. Since then, our work has grown, with a dedicated team now supporting the development and deployment of learning materials designed specifically for the Somali context, with individuals conducting key research projects about the Somali and wider east African geopolitical environment.
But to keep growing—and to get more books into more hands—we need your help.
