As a dedicated teacher in a Title 1 school district, I am committed to finding new ways to support my students’ literacy development. I am seeking funding to participate in EBLI (Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction) training. With EBLI, I will be able to address reading difficulties more effectively. The program’s approach—teaching the alphabetic code explicitly and applying it immediately in reading and writing—will help my students build strong foundational skills. It utilizes a speech-to-print methodology. It will build upon a student's knowledge of spoken language and integrates all components of literacy, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, handwriting, spelling, and writing, in an explicit, systematic, and engaging way.
Once my training is funded, I will offer free tutoring sessions to a local student selected through an application or referral process. These sessions will take place at the student’s home or the local library, 1-2 times per week, and will continue through the end of the 2025-2026 school year. My goal is to ensure that at least one student receives targeted, high-quality literacy support that can make a lasting difference. Your support will not only help me grow as an educator but will also directly impact a student in our community who needs it most.
