Hi, my name is Jimmye Cook III. I am 10 years old and starting a fundraiser to help support the Concussion Legacy Foundation to help in the development of treatments for concussions and CTE through innovative research. CLF is making sports safer by advocating for education, prevention and protocols. CLF is also supporting patients and families impacted by concussions and CTE.

Junior Seau: A Legend Lost Too Soon

Junior Seau was more than a football player—he was a warrior, a leader, and a hero to countless fans. For 20 seasons, he dominated the NFL, playing with unmatched passion and intensity. His infectious energy lifted his teammates, and his hits struck fear into opponents. He was the heart and soul of every team he played for.

But long after the crowds stopped cheering, Junior faced a battle no amount of training could prepare him for. The hits he took—thousands over his career—left behind invisible scars. He struggled with depression, mood swings, and memory loss. His once-brilliant mind became clouded by confusion and pain.

In 2012, the world lost Junior Seau. It was only after his death that doctors confirmed what many had feared—he had Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a brain disease caused by repeated head trauma. He was just 43 years old.

Junior’s story is heartbreaking, but it doesn’t have to be in vain. His legacy lives on, and we have the power to help those still suffering. The Concussion Legacy Foundation is working to protect athletes, advance CTE research, and support families affected by brain injuries. They’re fighting for a future where no player has to endure what Junior did.
