Help Fund Critical Surgery for a very Special Teen in Need

Meet Cosmus, a 17-year-old from a remote village in southwestern Uganda. He lives with his mother, Justine, a single parent, and his younger siblings.

Cosmus’ journey to recovery began in 2017 when he was just 10 years old. During a two-day community medical check-up organised by HPI, a large tumour was discovered on the left side of his face. This led to referrals to the Cancer Hospital in Kampala, where Cosmus underwent two significant surgeries: one in June 2017 to remove the tumour and another in November 2017 to remove the left side of his lower jaw.

These surgeries were crucial, but Cosmus’s recovery is not yet complete. As he approaches adulthood, he requires reconstructive surgery to rebuild his lower jaw and receive dental implants. HPI has been on this journey with Cosmus the whole time, not just to raise funds for this final op, but from the beginning and his twice-yearly check-up trips to Kampala, a journey of over 350 kilometers one way.

This essential surgery will cost approximately $12,000 and we need your help to raise the funds. By contributing to Cosmus's fund, you will help cover the costs of his procedure, travel to Kampala, and necessary medications, allowing him the chance to enjoy a better quality of life.
