Hello Family and Friends of Courtney,
We are reaching out to our family, friends, and community in a time of need for our 18-year-old daughter Courtney. Over the last few months Courtney has been having some strange and scary symptoms that we at first thought were nothing serious, but after numerous Dr. appointments, lab and blood work, a heart monitor and other extensive tests, concerns with her heart were discovered.
On 2-8-22, Courtney was diagnosed with a few heart abnormalities - the primary issue is an arrhythmia condition, AVNRT - Atrioventricular Nodal Reentry Tachycardia, which is an extra electrical pathway that causes extreme fast, irregular heartbeats. While this condition is serious, due to Courtney's age, being healthy and in great shape - it is treatable, but will require surgery on her heart.
On March 30th Courtney will have surgery at Virginia Mason Heart Center in Seattle to forgo electrophysiology procedures to correct her condition.
While we do have medical insurance covering a large portion of the costs, our family will still have to come up with thousands of dollars out of pocket in expenses that we are honestly not prepared for.
Courtney is currently a freshman attending Yakima Valley College. She is a two-sport college athlete, playing Volleyball and Basketball while maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Courtney is also the assistant coach for her younger sister's volleyball team - Team Yakima U14 Black. She will also be starting as the La Salle's Assistant Tennis Coach this Spring. Courtney is also a role model to her younger sister and many youths she has encountered over the years of athletic camps and training which she has generously donated her time and expertise. - all things she wants to continue doing as soon as possible.
Those of you who know Courtney know that she is one of the most caring, kind-hearted, and hard-working individuals you'll meet. Her work ethic, determination, and competitiveness make her stand out and yet she has had this condition unknowingly her whole life and just now comes to light is scary, however a blessing that we discovered while still at a young and healthy age.
Our Courtney is a Warrior who has already overcome so much in her life and we know that she will take this challenge head on and come out stronger than ever. We are asking for your Love and support for her at this time. Any assistance you can give is appreciated beyond words. We are hoping that with your support we can focus less on the financial aspects of this and dedicate all of our energy on Courtney's treatment and recovery.
