Help Fund Canvas’ Endoscopy
Donation protected
My name is Amanda and I volunteer my time rescuing homeless cats and kittens in Brooklyn.
In late April, I scooped up Canvas from the street near my apartment and found out from neighbors that his owners had left him outside in January! I have no idea how he survived for months in the cold, but I do know that’s he’s now safe and needs our help. He is truly the sweetest cat, despite all he’s endured.
After a few weeks inside, he started having trouble keeping food down and was also having wheezing episodes, similar to an asthma attack. I took him in for X-rays and bloodwork, and the radiologist suspects that he has asthma and a sliding hiatal hernia. They suggested I run more diagnostics, so we had a consultation with a surgeon and an ultrasound out on Long Island. The ultrasound was unfortunately inconclusive and so the surgeon recommended an endoscopy next.
Diagnosing and also repairing the hernia, are quite expensive, and I’ve already spent $2K on his vet bills. The endoscopy will be another $3K but he needs a consultation first which means more money and more vet trips for this poor cat and this broke rescuer.
I hope that if I can raise enough money, we can finally get some answers. Canvas is only a couple years old and I am determined to make sure he lives a long life, surrounded by love and support.
Thank you so much for helping me to continue this life saving work! You can follow along on Instagram or Facebook @bookstorecats
