An update on the current situation for Buddha:
He went through all of the antibiotics we were given last Wednesday morning and we didn’t see any more blood in his urine by Friday when he went to see the veterinarian. We basically got the “all clear” and knew he would need to be on a special diet the rest of his life.
Well things changed about 24 hours later when we noticed an increase in urine AND a change in color. We immediately contacted the vet and Buddha was prescribed another round of antibiotics. 48 hours later he is bleeding significantly more and I’m starting to have some real doubts on if this is only an infection our poor boy has.
We appreciate the generosity and love our boy has been shown. Every little bit has helped ease some of the stress from myself and Kyle. I’m keeping my fingers crossed we can provide positive updates soon. Link in my bio if you would like to help us out or share
Hi, we're Buddha's pawrents Kyle and Victoria and we're hoping you can help us out with making sure we can get our sweet boy the medical care he needs. Here's a little detail about what has been going on...
We had noticed that Buddha was urinating much more than usual Tuesday April 4/16, which we were concerned with so we made sure to change him often so that he wasn't in a wet diaper. By Wednesday evening he was urinating so much blood we rushed him to the emergency veterinarian. After thousands of dollars and different diagnostic tests (blood panels, x-rays, ultrasound, urinalysis, etc.), we took Buddha home with some antibiotics and no real answers on what the vets think he may have.
We adopted and brought our boy home fully knowing that his care and day to day life were going to be expensive - he is after all an Bulldog mix who is paralyzed from mid-back to hind legs from a traumatic injury, abuse and neglect by his previous owners (https://youtu.be/R5AjkcQDec0?si=gEXf8B1EwLSLHcH4). In the 2 years we have had Buddha he has been very healthy considering his condition, but we weren't prepared financially for thousands of dollars in emergency vet bills. And since we don't have the answers for what is wrong or a treatment plan we know that we have only begun to scratch the surface on what could be his future medical bills. Buddha is scheduled for additional follow up care once his cultures come back and treatment may entail emergency surgery. We don't want money to be the reason why we can't get Buddha the care he needs.
So this is why we're reaching out for help and asking for donations with his care. This sweet, resilient boy has survived so much already and we want to continue to give him the life and love he deserves.
