Help Fund Brian's Lifesaving Lung Transplant
Donation protected
Our treasured friend, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother in Arms, decorated 25 Year Army Veteran, current employee of the USAF 90 CES "Dirt Boyz", "Traveling Man" with the Capital Lodge 54 AFAM, KJ extraordinaire, fervent public servant and man of God is in dire need of our assistance.
Brian was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis about a year and a half ago. The cause is unknown, and it is a terminal disease. Brian is oxygen dependent and requires eight liters at rest and between ten to twenty-five liters with movement. The only viable option for Brian is a bilateral lung transplant.
For the last fourteen months Brian has been systematically preparing himself for this procedure. Progression of the disease has been aggressive and has resulted in twelve ICU stays in the last year. Brian has been going through all the pre- transplant work ups and evaluations since his diagnosis. Brian has worked diligently to meet the required health related mandates and requirements to enable him to be eligible for the lung transplant and at long last has been listed in EUNOS, the organ transplant database, as of Monday, June 18, 2024, and is cleared for the surgery. It is expected Brian will have surgery within a month. Following the surgery, it is expected that Brian will be out of work approximately twelve weeks.
Brian has depleted his savings paying off accumulated debt so as not to leave his wife Karalee and his mother in a difficult situation in the event that he does not survive until, or as a result of surgery.
************** Direct statement from Brian on June 18, 2024*****************
I want to announce that I have officially been placed on the waitlist for a double lung transplant, I am expected to have the surgery within a month. The transplant coordinator will be contacting me as soon as lungs become available, then I simply report to the hospital in Denver.
I want to thank everyone for the prayers so far and I ask you to continue to pray for me and my family. My faith in God and the strength he provides has brought me this far, God will take me all the way according to his will.
Transplant surgery is very successful, and I look forward to having a new lease on life so to speak, to live well into the golden years. I look forward to spending those years with my family who loves and supports me unconditionally. God's plan will be realized for my life, and I praise him daily for that as well for the abundant blessings that he has given me. I have the victory with any outcome! I either wake up in recovery with new lungs, or in Heaven where I meet Jesus!!
There will be a post when I report to the hospital for surgery, updates will follow as they become available. Hold tightly to the one's you love, take nothing for granted and strive daily to serve God and be the best version of you! God bless and keep you all! Please pray for me, thank you so much in advance. God Bless You!

The biggest problems Brian and his family will face are the costs related Co-Payments required for the transplant, subsequent treatments, follow-up care, therapies and lost wages as a result of his absence from work. Lost wages and expenses are projected to be in excess of $15,000 to $20,000. Therein lies the request for your help.
1st we ask for your prayers that the transplant be a complete success and that Brian be able to return to the vibrant life he has built.
2nd we ask that you donate whatever you can afford to help ease the financial burden that is soon to follow. (Brian has been approved as a donated leave recipient for the Federal government and can receive donations from any Federal employees who would like to donate leave.)
