Hello Again

If you are just meeting us, we are Astoria Players! We are a small theater troupe located in Astoria, Queens looking to bring free classics to our gorgeous neighborhood. Last summer we put on a production of Romeo and Juliet with the support of people like you on gofundme and were able to fundraise $8500 dollars to bring a weekend of shows to over 200 community members!

With that support we were able to reimburse 9 actors for their time, afford a permit to perform in Astoria Park, purchase transportation for our actors home from rehearsals, and feed them during our two show days. This time we're looking to beat that goal and raise $10,000 to extend our show into two weekends and add another week of rehearsal time!

This summer we will be putting on a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream outdoors in Astoria Park. We love this location, and we thought our community did too! One of the most uplifting parts of our work last summer was watching folks stop in the park and stay to watch our show or reharsals. That engagment is exactly what we are doing this for, because art is for everyone.

In addition, as we expand what our company is able to do, we'd like to start hosting workshops that relate to our current production. This summer we are planning a mask making and movement workshop which will influence our summer production.
