Hello!
I'm an independent artist looking for help to fund an art project, which involves manually washing up in people’s homes, to explore the story this humble act conveys.
Coming from a large family, my interest in this idea stems from the memory of our small chaotic kitchen gradually finding order after any meal. Visiting the family home now, where only my mother remains, things are of course very different; the drainer nearly empty; the rack obsolete.
With this project I wish to investigate such vicissitudes of life.
I intend to wash up the items used after any meal of the day, in the kitchens of people in varied circumstances, including a commune, a residential home, a prison, young families and people living alone.
The funds raised will help with the cost of hiring professional photographers, travel and printing the final 7-9 images to gallery standard. Everyone who donates will (if desired) be credited in the project.
The project can be followed here: https://paulmichaelbrowne.com/these-things-have-been-trained-to-dry-themselves
Thank you for reading this! Any help hugely appreciated.
