I am a 32 year old dad to two little girls and I use a wheelchair. I would like to think that I don't let many things hold me back and for the most part, this is true. However, when you find yourself wheel-deep in a bog in the forest and you end up needing your children and anyone around to rescue you; it does affect your positive outlook on life. My youngest daughter has inherited my disability. She needs a wheelchair over long distances and, unlike most dads, I cannot just put her on my shoulders and be her legs when the terrain gets tough. The reason I have created this page (and I don't feel proud about it) is because I cannot be the dad both my girls need and deserve if I cannot manage terrains beyond tarmac. We live in the forest and my children love the outdoors, as do I. My family needs me to be as able as possible and my children, especially my youngest, need to see that I am not held back by my disability. Unfortunately, off-road wheelchairs are so expensive, and I cannot afford one alone. I am quite embarrassed to be doing this but I am doing it for my children, as it would change everything for them if their dad could be more able and involved in their adventures. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and wish me luck!
