Help fund an Abi Gezunt music video

Hi!

Our names are Maya Jacobson, Jodi Snyder, and Raquel Nobile. We are three young performers who met doing the Yiddish production of Fiddler on the Roof, Fidler Afn Dakh, directed by Joel Grey.

While doing the show, we became so taken with the history of Yiddish music and theater that we wanted to explore other ways to share it. After further research, we came across the Barry Sisters, a Jewish singing duo from the 1940s. One song they popularized was Abi Gezunt, written for the Yiddish film Mamele in 1938. The chorus translates to "As long as you are healthy, you can be happy." With the past two years, these lyrics felt especially poignant to us. So much so, that we now want to pay homage to the language, heritage, and richness of it with a 3-part arrangement, professional recording, and music video, set to premiere during Hannukah 2021.

Now, here's where you come in. In order to create this arrangement, record it professionally, hire musicians, rent a space and equipment needed to film, and hire our director, we need to raise funds. Every dollar counts and we'd love your support to fulfill this artistic endeavor.

Thank you all. --A dank!

Love,
Maya, Jodi, and Raquel
