*(Update) Hi everyone! First fo all, I want to thank everyone who donated to my go fund me. My surgery was super succesful and I'm now in recovery! My pain is gone for the most part and just need to strengthen my legs and my back once again. Now, we are in the second phase of recovery and I am choosing to keep my Go Fund me up because my parents and I are in considerable debt after this very expensive surgery. The money we will hopefully receive would go to paying off our debt, my rent, groceries, physical therapy bills, and medicine. Hello Everyone!

My name is Alán Rubio Sanchez. I am a 21-year-old college senior studying Music Education at Texas A&M International University, and I was recently diagnosed with chronic back pain that turned out to be from two herniated discs in my L4-L5 spinal segments. Unfortunately, these hernias are causing Lumbar Spinal Stenosis, causing horrible shooting pain down my legs through the sciatic nerve.

This condition has caused a significant struggle in the activities that I love to do in my life. Singing and dance have been my safe spaces for a good amount of time now, but these random bursts of pain have made it incredibly difficult to sing consistently and sadly, have even forced me to quit my university's Ballet Folklorico Group.

This very sharp pain in my legs has impaired my mobility and does not allow me to do even simple, everyday tasks like I used to. The pain can truly be unbearable at several points of my day (especially at bedtime and morning). Even though I am heavily medicated for the majority of my day, my doctors have told me that I must go into surgery to fix these two herniated discs soon and avoid any more problems down the road.

The surgery to fix my L4-L5 discs would cost my family approximately $17,000. Without insurance, my family and I are left to pay for this surgery fully out of pocket, so we hope that you consider donating to my page and help fix my herniated discs which will provide me instant relief and allow my life to continue on as normal.

Mi nombre es Alán Rubio Sanchez. Soy un estudiante de último año estudiando Educación Musical en Texas A&M International University. Tengo 21 años y recientemente fui diagnosticado con dolor de espalda crónico, el cual resultó ser causado por dos discos herniafos (L4-L5 de mi columna vertebral.) Desafortunadamente, estas discos herniados han provocado Estenosis Espinal, lo que me causa un dolor insoportable que se extiende por el nervio ciático hasta mis piernas.

Esta condición ha hecho que sea muy difícil disfrutar de las actividades que amo. Cantar y bailar han sido mis refugios por mucho tiempo, pero estos repentinos episodios de dolor han dificultado mi capacidad para cantar y, tristemente, me han obligado a dejar el grupo de Ballet Folklórico de mi universidad.

El dolor tan intenso en mis piernas ha afectado mi movilidad y no me permite realizar incluso tareas cotidianas como solía hacerlo. En muchos momentos del día (especialmente por la noche y en la mañana,) el dolor se vuelve verdaderamente insoportable. Aunque estoy medicado gran parte del día, mis doctores me han indicado someterme a cirugía forzosamente para reparar mis discos herniados lo antes posible y evitar complicaciones en el futuro.

La cirugía para corregir mis discos L4-L5 tiene un costo aproximado de $17,000. Sin seguro médico, mi familia y yo debemos cubrir el costo total de la operación, por lo que les pedimos que consideren hacer una donación a mi página. Esta cirugía me brindará un alivio inmediato y me permitirá retomar mi vida con normalidad.
