Hello! My name is Emma Scott and I am the writer and director of Against Heart and Mind, the short film musical. I'm lucky to be working with some amazing college students on this project and I believe a lot of people will really connect and resonate with the story we're telling. We are students aspiring to tell stories through the medium of film as careers.

Logline:

A young woman wrestles with her past demons, while being pursued by a young man she isn't sure she’s ready for.

In this short film, we are following the story of Ashton and Xander. Ashton has had... poor experiences with relationships to say the least. Parts of her like the idea of being in a relationship again, however past trauma holds her back. Xander can feel their connection together, but doesn't understand why Ashton won't give him a chance. This story follows what it looks like to fight against one’s self and how that battle can be perceived by others. Sometimes the hardest battle is between what you know and what you feel.

A lot of people may not know this, but most student films only consist of volunteers! Cast and crew work 12 hour days to help dreams come true. The very least we can do is provide meals for them. The majority of the money we raise will go to feeding the 30-40 cast and crew members volunteering a total of 48 hours on set. The rest of the budget will go to necessities like some lighting equipment, set decorations, camera lenses, wardrobe, etc.
