As some of you know, I have mobility issues and am dealing with a fair amount of pain. Today I discovered that I have a torn labrum in my right hip that may require surgery (since the labrum doesn't heal by itself) and fairly extensive physical therapy.
A few weeks ago, someone stole my "Rollator" walker. The model I want - a stand-up version that does not require me to hunch over and stress my hips and shoulders - is covered by my insurance, but it is not carried by any of my insurance company's approved Durable Medical Equipment vendors. It is available online from Walmart or Amazon for between $150 and $250, which is frankly beyond my capacity to purchase now. Also, in order to try to prevent another theft, I will need a good bicycle lock which can run about $30.
This is a one-time need. Hopefully, with surgery and physical therapy, I won't need the walker permanently, but I will need it for the foreseeable future. Once I no longer need it, it is my intention to gift it to an organization or individual who can use it.
