LAST HURDLE... Support driven aspiring law student!

This is for my sister Mich. Please read, PLEASE DONATE AND SHARE THANK YOU X

Help us to raise £16,500  for her tuition. 1st instalment is due this September for £4,125 pay(New Academic Year). She can’t fall at this penultimate hurdle.... NOW more than ever. Must keep going!

SHE ACHIEVED THE GRADES FOR BAR SCHOOL! EVEN THROUGHOUT & AFTER ALL THE PAINFUL SET BACKS!

Dear Reader,
14 years ago I couldn’t walk eat or dress myself after major car accident and was told I’d never have children. Doctors said “to quit my degree as it would be hard to work or walk properly again without tremendous effort” therefore stating I would have no prospects,  no motherhood, no effective level of mobility and that I should give up on my degree. My response. Not ever!

Now 14 years later I have worked tremendously hard on myself and my goals along side support from my family, amazing forward thinking physicians and my gorgeous DAUGHTER to strengthen my body, mind and spirit. Yes I said daughter.

Years later I have achieved my academic goals, improved my mobility (with the odd off days), lost 5 stones in weight, had my daughter and I NEVER gave up on my studies, as I believe strongly that books are portals to another world in which we can truly make a difference to each other and if we teach our children this, they can see they can ACHIEVE ANYTHING!

Partly due to the experiences I had I wanted more than ever to practice law and help others receive the justice they are entitled too. I want to be a part of eliminating boundaries between access to legal advice and representation and socioeconomic limits towards that justice.

Guess what... I’ve now been accepted into an amazing Law School, to finish my legal journey in becoming a Human Rights Barrister! I scored one of the highest grades in my graduate diploma in law class and cannot wait to progress onto Bar School this September 2020.

Unfortunately,  the tuition fee is the only BARRIER for me in between accepting such an AMAZING offer! Which hurts so deeply as I have given my all and committed several years of endless studying, late nights, days away from my daughter, hospital visits due to exhaustion and hours and hours of exams etc.. in getting here. I was unlucky not to secure a scholarship (which are only a few).

Yet I know why I went through all that I did and that is exactly why I know where I’m meant to be. I will be the first person in my family (over many a generation) to become a Barrister, with many hurdles defeated in toe. I’m glad that I am able to be in such a position to show a young girl that looks just like me, that SHE can do it too, and anyone that can relate to invisible disabilities, single parenthood, self- discovery, ones purpose and ones disparity.

If you can please support, so I can soon one day serve and support the community. Especially as I know EXACTLY how it feels as a working class girl myself and that is why I relate amazingly with my clients when I volunteer. Unfortunately, not all of us have trust funds or can be in the position to afford such fees.

But if we can support one another, together we will go far and help to act collectively as role-models and positive influences for the young women coming up, as I intend to do so.

Please support my journey and donate. I have just a month to raise my first instalment for law school.

Thank you, With Love and determination....
Michelle xx :)

Her two favourites! Her daughter & her University Education! Always positive!

Introduction:
My sister is an amazing woman and mother. I don't know anybody else in my life that deserves this miracle more than her. She has survived a life altering major car accident (where she lost feeling from her waist down), two unprovoked assaults, not only violating her physically but mentally, three major spinal surgeries (lasting 10-12 hours), years of rehabilitation and told she could not have children, then almost forced to terminate BUT resisted (Thank God my gorgeous niece is here). Years of bullying due to her disability nearly destroyed her spirit. All of which resulted in her body internally fighting itself. Thus, ending up with an auto-immune disease called 'Ankylosing spondylitis' (AS) of which she suffers from daily, which is a life-long debilitating condition.

I have witnessed her body literally freeze up to the point she could not turn her head, move her limbs or feed herself. This would last for days. I have seen her go through mild flare ups and really soul-destroying flare ups.  At times  her legs would just give away from beneath her when walking or standing. Everyday she said it felt like a knife was stabbing her in certain joints of her body but she kept going, and smiling through it  keeping her wit, humour  and supported by family good friends and her deep spiritual connection.

All these events happened whilst she completed her undergraduate degree (studying from her hospital bed or wherever she could). She has recently completed her diploma in Law in which she has done well. She also received an award in 2011 for her excellence at university whilst undergoing all that she had. She was nominated by Kew Tuition and received the award on the night.

Michelle believes that it all happened to her for a reason, as do I, it had to be for her meaning in life and for her salvation. Her pulling through was partly down to her character and her knowing she will one day fight for others going through similar ugly events, to have justice.
Her love of the law is evident, she lives, and breathes it and loves any programme to do with it! She lights up when she talks about law and makes, what can seem confusing to myself at times,  fun and understandable. At law school she is well known for being somewhat geeky! However, her love for law is genuine and whole.

Regardless of her setbacks, she kept fighting for everything from help with her rehabilitation to suitable accessible schooling for her daughter.

Her drive to help others has partly been from her own experience of sexual assault where unfortunately the three perpetrators escaped justice. They  got away with hurting my sister (not without her giving up so easily) but at that point she was in quite a bad way and wasn't given much legal help when we all tried.

BUT now she is the help and volunteers when she can within and around her studies and legal advice activities. She has put in her ALL to studying law. Exams upon exams, late nights until the early mornings, which has been hard as a single parent with a serious chronic illness. We have not seen her much over the last two years as she literally gave up sunlight to study ferociously! Her face lights up when she speaks of the people she's helped and the people she will help and is so proud to be a part of it. But she needs your help to walk the rest of the mile so she may do it as a career! Michelle doesn't have any savings due to a lot of her 20's being taken away by ill health and other tribulations and has lived on next to nothing to complete her Graduate Diploma in Law. Her focus was health and getting better to work and give to society!

She is as good as the rest of them, will make a brilliant Barrister and comes from humble beginnings! She is a born survivor and achieved an average grade of COMMENDATION in law. The next stage is where we need your help as she has the grades regardless of extenuating circumstances. We need to raise £16,500 by September 2020. This year! She has promised to show you all of her achievements along the way at Law School on her YT Channel.

All of the above was done to her by no fault of her own and she now want to be the voice for victims of crime, especially children and she wants to stick up for those who are quieted. Because on many occasions she has been in vulnerable positions.
She was even treated badly in the hospital by a few staff that thought she didn't understand english, because she had lost her ability to form words properly directly after the spinal operation. Unfortunately, this attracted abuse from a care worker, where the tube that ran from her nose to her stomach was violently yanked creating damage to her nose and  nose bleeds. This happened after coming out of one of her 12 hour intensive spinal surgery when she was in intensive care. This abuse of power happens all the time and my sister wants to stop it!

My sister was horrified by the way certain disabled and elderly people were disregarded and dehumanised in some care facilities! This has to stop! She believes taking away someone's power through forceful invasion on ones private being is a disgusting act! She has always helped to advocate for others, stand by them in hard times and seek out the means of helping them. Whether that be through charity, writing letters, advice or just speaking out. She has always believed in standing up for justice (especially if know one cared to do so at the time). This is her calling! This I know and anyone that meets her will to. She is not judgemental and stands shoulder to shoulder with the vulnerable alone and in need, as a being of justice before all else.

I ask you to please help us fund her Bar School Education. We need to raise £16,500 to make this a possibility with the first instalment of £4125 payable for September this year 2020.

Her education and her daughter has always been her key focus. Her daughter Adanna is a credit to us all and she has the same level of love, resilience, integrity and empathy her mother shares. She believes in humanity and is a passionate intelligent little girl. My sister said 'NO' to stopping when told she couldn't progress and kept going, because she knew her purpose was to advocate. She will help others  survive such horrendous events and reclaim their voice and POWER.

She has volunteered at legal clinics, gives time, and what ever she can, whenever she can to people that suffer homelessness. She was one of the first responders at Grenfell Tower that awful day and stayed there for 3 weeks. She always feels thats where she belongs helping people in desperate need. Right now she has volunteered yet again for more free services where she may offer her legal knowledge and kind support.

Helping at Grenfell, She set up the beds. Settled in the survivors and didn't leave until they fell asleep. She also wrote letters and advocated on behalf of tenants needing supported rehousing:

In order to continue doing what she is good at, what her life has put on her on track to do, she needs your help! She wants to fight for the vulnerable, the people on less income, the less fortunate and the everyday person. She's come so far please help her fund her Bar School Course. Her grades are very good with what she had to suffer through and still suffers with, but again she ploughs on. She does not complain. She does this too for her daughter which is her universe. Her daughter has grown up very fast as she had to witness her mummy go through really hard times, but her mummy keeps telling her your purpose (your dream) is the most important thing to achieve in life. "You will have breaks in the road but face the fear and it will no longer scare you"!

One of her Favourite Quotes:
(ref: Picture Quotes.com)

Areas she will specialise in as a qualified Barrister and her grades in these areas:
Public Law             Distinction
Criminal Law        Commendation

Please understand whilst all of this was happening she REFUSED to give up on her education. She achieved it! And believes that she can change some part of this world.

NOW she is ready and strong enough to rise up even more so for all else...
Her spirit, her love for an equality and her love for the truth keeps her shining bright. Michelle is  a people person. She is wonderful with her clients and truly understands people and they see in her, a genuine woman, willing to  go the mile for them. You will be adding a Protector of the people to this world that will not give up on your fight because it is also hers. She has been there for me in some of my darkest days and now I put this forward, so she may be there for you too!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story and thank you if you wish to donate. We deeply appreciate all donations.

Thank you xx
