Twentynine Palms has a shelter intake per capita that is DOUBLE that of the national average. Largely, this is due to a lack of affordable, accessible spay/neuter access in the community.
We raising money to host a spay/neuter clinic for community members in Twentynine Palms - where nearly 20% of the population is living below the poverty threshold.
A clinic will allow approximately 30 pets to be spayed/neutered. The clinic costs $4,000 to fully fund. Community members will be able to access this service for free or on a pay-what-you-can basis that would roll over to future clinics. Often people donate enough to roll over to 1-2 additional clinics from an initial fundraising effort.
- Spay/Neuter saves lives and helps curb the pet homelessness crisis. This crisis puts undue pressure on shelter staff and rescuers as they scramble to try to stay afloat as more and more pets enter the shelter system. So many pet owners would spay/neuter their pets if they had access, so let’s help them.
