Hello, we are final year award winning film students at Leeds Arts University looking for support to help bring our short graduate film 'That Funny Feeling' to life!
Synopsis
Beth is a young woman who dreams of becoming a circus clown. However she is held back by her spiritless partner. Beth feels conformed to what his ideals of a partner should be, until she meets the 'inspirational clown' who shows her everything she can achieve if she follows her circus dreams. Above all else 'That Funny Feeling' is a story about the importance of staying true to yourself.
Why are we making this project?
In 2025, there were 49,557 offences of coercive control recorded by the police in England and Wales, (source : Womensaid.org.uk).
In the current climate with cases of coercive control and domestic violence on the rise, our crew believes it is more vital than ever that art forms such as film are used to draw awareness, shed light and create a more open conversation surrounding the issue. The film's comical nature is used as a device to make the overall message more accessible to the audience. Although we want the audience to find humour within Beth's story, what resonates most should be the value of independence and autonomy, especially for a young woman.
What the funds will be used for:
Money from this Crowdfunder will be used to cover production costs like travel, props, costume and refreshments for our wonderful cast and crew.
Distribution:
The script for That Funny Feeling has been submitted to the Spirit of Independence festival for the emerging script to screen competition. We're aiming for this film to have a run at multiple festivals across the UK.
Shooting days:
Pre production is currently underway with a fully backed cast and crew, and shooting is scheduled to begin in early April!
