Heal childhood trauma with Madison artists.

Over the last two years,

we have all felt the devastating effects of isolation that has left us to struggle with trauma on our own.

“Trauma” is quickly becoming a buzzword in our society; yet it still captures, in a single word, the unwelcome activities/thoughts/events that occupy our conscious and subconscious, rent free.

So how are we supposed to move forward in these times when methods of tackling personal trauma are still rarely taught in our society?
Performance art, like music, had been used for thousands of years to allow us to heal with our community. That being said, Covid-19 has stripped this away from us and made it especially difficult for performing artists to play their role in our society.

That is why I have brought together a collective of artists from different parts of the Madison art community, some aspiring, others highly experienced, to produce a video script I wrote for my band to illustrate a personal breakthrough in self-healing.

Our video will be shot by an award-winning videographer, Gracie Walner ( graciekwallner.com ), in the historical and currently uninhabited Marsha P Johnson Co-op House (shown above) in January 2022. It was generously offered as our location, free of charge, by Madison Community Co-operative.

This century-old mansion represents a suppressed inner world, frozen in time within our main character’s subconscious. There our main character (played by Ayse Koylu https://www.instagram.com/ayse_s_ozkoylu/), delves deep within to face the memories of her abusive stepfather which had come alive as an inner demon (played by David Slama), and reconnect with the inner child there that she had long ago abandoned (played by Molly).

The story doesn’t recount my exact life experiences, but rather lays out a process of healing that changed my life, in a way so that many may understand.

The funds you provide will pay:

5 actors and actresses

1 video director

2 video crew (aspiring students)

1 effects specialist

1 video producer

1 makeup professional

1 lights professional

1 photographer

1 equipment engineer

And renting or buying the following equipment:

stage lights

camera lenses

makeup

props

materials for scaffolding and camera dolly construction.

Your support means so much to us as it will grant a spark of hope for all of the artists involved in these hard times.

It will give a solid foundation of experience for each of our resumes to adapt and grow our careers to a now video-centric art industry.

With your contribution, whether its $50 or $300, we hope to reach a goal of at least $5000 to pay our team what they are worth.

$5000 will allow our production to achieve a professional level of quality so we might inspire the hearts and minds of a wide audience and hopefully help heal those who struggle with childhood trauma, as I have.

Thank you so much for your contribution,

Aaron.
