My name is Morelys. I’m a proud HBCU graduate from Maryland. I was recently accepted into two of the top graduate programs in the country, New York University and Columbia University.

 For me, staying in school is not just about pursuing my dreams. It is also the most stable and secure path at the moment . School will assure me access to healthcare, and reliable housing, something I can’t fully rely on by myself. My circumstances limit my access to traditional financial resources, like federal loans and aid. Despite academic excellence, leadership, and years of service to my community, I’ve found myself ineligible for many forms of support that most students can rely on.

This makes continuing my education incredibly difficult to afford, even though it is the safest and most strategic next step for me. This GoFundMe is currently my only option to cover my remaining balance of $30,000 at Columbia University and help me manage the high cost of living in New York City.
