My family and I would really love the chance to go on holiday together. Like any family, we want to make memories, relax, and enjoy time away — but for us, travelling has become a source of real worry and stress.
I live with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and my electric wheelchair is essential for my daily life. It gives me independence, safety, and the ability to move around. Unfortunately, taking my current wheelchair on a plane feels extremely risky. Wheelchairs are often damaged during air travel, and if mine were broken, I would lose my independence and be unable to get around safely.
This fear has made travelling feel stressful rather than exciting, not just for me but for my whole family. The thought of landing somewhere and finding my wheelchair damaged is overwhelming.
Why I’m Fundraising
We are hoping to raise funds for a foldable, lightweight electric wheelchair that is better suited for air travel. A travel-safe wheelchair would:
Be easier and safer to transport on planes
Reduce the risk of damage
Give my family peace of mind
Allow me to travel without fear of losing my independence
Having a wheelchair specifically designed for travel would completely change how we feel about going away together.
Why Your Support Matters
This isn’t about luxury — it’s about access, dignity, and independence. A suitable travel wheelchair would allow me to experience the world with my family instead of watching opportunities pass us by because of fear.
Every donation, share, or message of support truly means the world to us. Even if you can’t donate, sharing this page helps more than you know.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for supporting people living with Duchenne and their families.
