Synopsis

A Bad Day for bob is a psychological drama centering around the lives of two couples deep into their golden years who have transplanted to Florida. Both couples Bob and Ethel, as well as Larry and June, were good decent people who lived good decent lives. One day, something is different. Bob comes over upset, even scared, and makes a confession to a doubtful Larry. Bob tells him he believe that his wife has been replaced somehow by a mannequin statue. Its ridiculous. Obviously. As Bob's passion grows, and pressure for Larry to act mounts, he begins to uncover something even darker hiding in plain sight. Larry's reality begins to unfold around him, turning what would have been a peaceful afternoon in the midst of his tropical golden years into a nightmare of truth and fiction.

Why This Movie?

Do you miss classic contained horror? Characters you can root for and cry for then scream at? Miss the days when surreal situational drama had a twinge of uncanny? Student films are always attempting to press the boundaries of film making in new and dynamic ways, and we hope to bring the uncanny to for forefront of our push. We've seen a big resurgence in the past year in the horror genre, new evolutions and ideas, so now its time for our take! This spring Lunetta Pictures is back in full swing on another mission to bring together film students from schools all around New York into one united force, and hopefully, to help you learn just exactly why Bob is having such a bad day.

Influences?

Our film "A Bad Day for Bob" is an adaptation from the published short story anthology book "Pieces and Stems" written by Stephen O'Rourke. The anthology as a whole follows heavily surreal and often Kafkaesque character studies , and Bob is one such character. The whole story feels sort of like one of these classic anthology episodes you might see in something like "The Twilight Zone", with a more stylistic modern twist.

About the Director!

Hello everybody! If you don't know me, I'm Evan O'Rourke, director of "A Bad Day for Bob"! It's been such a huge privilege to a part of this new Lunetta Picture, and to get the gang back together for another one of my films! I currently am a sophomore at NYU Undergraduate TV/ Film, and a full time student, editor, and aspiring director. I've worked on just about ever Lunetta pictures set, and directed my own Lunetta Picture last year, "Finnigan Finds Joy". "A Bad Day for Bob" marks me continuing my dream to direct films, explore the art, and tell amazing stories that I can share with all of you!
