Help Full Circus Farm Recover From Flooding
Donation protected
After receiving a combined 9 inches of rain over 5 days, our stream jumped its banks and flooded our main vegetable field. We lost almost all of our vegetable crops for the season in the flood, and there isn't sufficient time to replant the crops that we lost. The impact of this flood has been devastating.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has been the heart of our farm for the 9 years that we've stewarded this land. This model is specifically designed so that farmers and consumers share the risks of farming, but this kind of loss feels too big to place solely on our CSA members.
We are planning to continue our CSA through the summer by using produce from local farmers, but we will be ending the CSA early. To mitigate the loss of this season's non-CSA vegetable sales and support our family and employee in the wake of this flood, we are aiming to raise:
$12,000 to make up for lost vegetable sales
$3,000 to compensate farmers for their produce
$2,500 to refund CSA members who are on scholarship shares and those families for whom this loss represents a financial hardship
$1000 to replace field supplies and do soil testing
Thank you for your kindness, encouragement and support in this difficult moment. We feel so lucky to be a part of this community.
With love,
Miriam and Mark
The stream jumped its banks in 4 different places. Here it's heading past our barn towards the vegetable field.
