Help Fulfill Joel's Last Wish

Hi, my name is Megan Menard. Last year in July of 2023 my father Joel got severely sick with pneumonia, needed emergency surgeries, immediately went into septic shock and was intubated due to his lungs refilling almost hourly with fluid. When my dad was discharged from the ICU they sent him to a nursing and rehabilitation facility in bastrop where he seemed to be improving. If you’ve ever dealt with Medicare then you know a “skilled nursing” stay times out at 20-22 days, meaning whether you are healthy or not you get sent home, if you don’t have the funds to pay on a day by day basis. My dad was picked up that day and brought home, unable to walk, eat independently, use the bathroom by himself, bathe himself, change his colostomy bags, he couldn’t even sit up by himself. Upon his arrival back home I, immediately stepped in to be his full time care taker (my mom is disabled and was healing from a hip fracture so besides feeding him and giving him meds there wasn’t much she could do for him. I did everything in my power to try and heal my dad but inevitably hospice was brought into the situation because he started to rapidly decline again. Once hospice was brought in all physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy was all stopped and we made him comfortable until God took my daddy home on September 18, 2023. Our initial plan for his funeral services was to use his life insurance money but unfortunately that wasn’t enough money to even think about having a funeral or memorial service. My dads last wishes were to be made comfortable until he passed, to be cremated and to have his ashes buried next to his family members who had already passed. Up until now I’ve been able to fulfill all of his final wishes except his funeral service and burial. My dads burial plot was purchased many years ago but it is in Oxford Massachusetts. I know times are very hard for everyone financially right now with the economy we currently live in, but if you can find it in your heart to donate to this cause, my family and myself would be so grateful. My mom and I, have had zero closure since his passing and I’ve been yearning to be able to somehow give my daddy the funeral services he deserved and wished for. Thank you for taking the time to read and please feel free to share with everyone you know. I’m praying God makes a way for us to be able to finally bury my daddy, so we can continue to heal through this heartbreaking grief journey. Thank you for taking the time to read, If you can’t donate please pray for my family and I.
