Friends and Family,
Tragedy has struck our family and we are requesting your help. Our sister, Susan Hatch, had been selflessly caring for her husband day in and day out as he battled terminal Stage 4 cancer. She put off travel, vacations, and even leaving her own home for a weekend getaway to provide daily care for him. She gave everything of herself during this time. This February, she herself was very unexpectedly diagnosed with a different form of cancer and just 7 weeks later has died, leaving young adults and grand children in complete shock and without their primary source of love, support, and care. Our brother-in-law will likely pass soon as well. Their home, the center of all holidays, meals, birthdays, and family gatherings, is not yet paid off and much is left undone with this incredible loss that happened so quickly. Losing both parents is just unimaginable and the kids will struggle greatly in the months ahead.
Our sister's last and ONLY wish she shared was a simple one: to get the children and grandchildren to Disneyland. This is a trip SHE was supposed to be taking when her caregiver duties ended. She planned to take all of the kids after her husband passed. And in an unbelievably cruel manner, she died before he did.
So we are setting up this fundraiser to help get the kids to Disneyland. There are 9 of them, most ranging in age from 24 all the way down to age 3. The support of a community in times like this is so important because it lets the kids know and feel that others out there care and have empathy for the pain they are experiencing...and helps to lessen the feelings they are having of being so alone.
We love you Sue. We are completely devastated, but we promise to get your babies to Disney very soon. Maybe we can take them in August for your birthday. We know you would love that. We know you will be watching over all of us as we navigate the hours, days, and weeks ahead. Rest in peace. And know that your last wish is our greatest priority.
