We are all devastated by the sad loss of our great friend GIANLUIGI MARTIGNADO, known to his friends as “Luigi”.
He was a very kind hearted man, always willing to help his family and friends.
Luigi worked as a Maître D in a number of hotels and restaurants and he took great pride in his work and general appearance.
He was a quiet man with high general knowledge and intellect. He liked to have meaningful conversations on a wide range of diverse subject matters.
He appreciated nature and loved to play the piano and listening to classical music. He enjoyed travelling and was a keen “foodie”.
He loved Thailand and supporting community projects in Bangkok, helping orphaned and disabled children for many years.
Luigi had a big heart and over his lifetime people took advantage of his goodwill and compassionate nature. They exploited him financially and then abandoned him in his later years.
3 years ago, he became ill and his health deteriorated. He was weak and on dialysis 3 times a week. He was in intensive care for many months and had one of his legs amputated. He had to learn how to live using a wheelchair.
He was not the same Luigi anymore - he became depressed and venerable. He became a recluse and suffered many falls and bruises. Although he had many friends, they were not present in his life and he had no help.
Unfortunately he passed away, 67 years old. He had no money saved and no assets.
Luigi’s wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered on his parents’ grave in Italy in order to be ‘reunited’ with them.
He is survived by an older sister who has many limitations and cannot travel to uk to collect his cremated ashes.
We humbly ask for your support to raise the necessary funds for Luigi’s funeral and to repatriate his ashes. Every donation, no matter how small will a ray of hope and it will help fulfil Luigi’s final wishes.
Love and respect to all.
