Help Frost Recover!
Hello, my name is Melannie. I am raising funds for my cat’s medical bills. He is currently fighting kidney disease, our vet bill in total has been around $2,600. He’s only 3 years old and I’m praying he has a whole life ahead of him.
His story:
On August 4th, I took my cat to the vet because he had accidentally hurt his claw badly. They gave him antibiotics and I can't recall what else. His claw got better, but everything started going downhill after that visit. I took him to the vet again on the 23rd of august for his claw check up, and because he had been peeing outside the litter box very often. I thought perhaps a uti? Took him to the vet again, they didn't even run a urine test. The vet told me that it's uncommon at his age and she doubts it was a uti, she felt his bladder to see if he was blocked- according to her he was not blocked. She sent me home with "methigel" to give him everyday. Then on the first of september I took him to the vet again because he had completely stopped peeing. He was crying all day, he was wailing in pain, he would not eat or drink water, he kept licking his genitals, etc. The vet then told me he was blocked. They put him under anesthesia and inserted a catheter to drain out his pee and unblock him. I believe they also gave him fluids. I took him home that same day. He still refused to eat, he would only drink water, he was peeing on himself, licking his genitals. So, I took him to the vet again, this time they did run a urine test and he tested positive for cocci. They went ahead and drained him again The vet told me that it's good he's at least peeing but it's clear after the drainage he is not peeing the full amount. Which is true. My cat has been peeing little by little, you can tell when he tries to pee he uses a lot of effort. I asked the vet what if he still refuses to eat? The vet assured me he would eat, I believed him. My cat has gone five days without eating. I had to force feed him because he started to shake. I got so worried he would pass away. I took him to a different clinic today, turns out the vet I had been taking him to was playing in my face the whole time. They should have left the catheter in for the next 3 days so his pee wouldn’t be backed up. The clinic I had been taking him to did not do this for my poor fur baby. I am beyond frustrated and regretful for taking him there. The vet today told me his toxins have built up and he is experiencing kidney disease. His bill is beyond my means, if anyone could help out I would be more than grateful. Anything helps. If anyone would like to see his medical records please reach out to me.
Update:
While he had a urinary catheter in he was not urinating blood, now that it is out he has started to urinate blood. Since the day he got the catheter put in he has not defecated. He has gone through two treatments of enema, we have tried giving him laxatone, pumpkin, even Miralax. Nothing seems to work. The veterinarian is unsure what is causing the blood in the urination, Frost needs an ultrasound but I am unable to pay for anymore vet visits. If I am unable to reach $580 for the ultrasound alone then I would be left with no choice but to put him down… Please, anything helps.
Thank you for listening.
